Right Worshipful Carlton Lee Gill Junior
1992
Carlton Lee Gill, Jr. ("Pete") is a Past Master Councilor, Representative DeMolay and Chevalier of Norview Chapter, Order of Demolay. He has also been recognized as an Active Legion of Honor in DeMolay. He was raised a Master Mason in 1987. In December of that year, he was elected Jr. Deacon of Ocean View Lodge. In 1991, with his father serving as Worshipful Master, Ocean View Lodge elected Brother Gill to serve as Worshipful Master in 1992.
One of the highlights of 1992, which was attended by over 200 brethren, was the "roast" of Most Worshipful William Franklin Perdue (immediate Past Grand Master). Another highlight was the visit by Most Worshipful John Robert Dean, Grand Master of Masons in Virginia, to Ocean View Lodge. Brother Gill and Brother Dean had a very close relationship and this visit was a special culmination to five years of planning. It was very well attended, as Most Worshipful John Robert Dean was beloved as a brother as well as Grand Master. Most Worshipful John Robert Dean recognized Brother Gill as one of his Outstanding Worshipful Masters in 1992.
In 1997, Ocean View Lodge nominated Worshipful Brother Gill to be District Deputy Grand Master for Masonic District 35B. In accepting the nomination, Brother Gill commented on his regret that his father (who went to the celestial Lodge in 1995) had not lived long enough to witness his nomination. He was then selected by Most Worshipful Albert Hugh Tignor, Jr., Grand Master of Masons in Virginia for 1998, to serve as his District Deputy Grand Master. Rt. Worshipful Brother Gill also served as High Priest of John Walters Royal Arch Chapter #68, Treasurer of Ocean View Lodge as well as District Deputy Grand Master in 1998. "Busy" doesn't describe that year!
After serving for five years as Treasurer of Ocean View Lodge, RtWor. "Pete" Gill was elected Secretary, in which position he continues to serve today. He has held numerous Grand Lodge appointments including Property, Insurance and Trustees Committee, Life Membership In Perpetuity Committee (Chairman), Youth Committee (Chairman), The Grand Master's Prince Hall Masonry Commission, The Grand Master's Childhood Identification Commission and The Masonic Home Board of Governors. In addition, Brother Gill is a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and is very active in the Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies. He holds membership in numerous York Rite organizations including Norfolk Royal Arch Chapter #1 (Past High Priest), Grice Commandery #16, Hampton Roads York Rite College #95, Emerald Isle Council, Knight Masons, Jesse Albert White Council #110 (Past Sovereign Master), Virginia College of Societas Rosicruciana in Civitatibus Foederatis, Royal Order of Scotland and St. Polycarp Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine. Brother Gill walked the "hot sands" of Khedive Shrine and is a member of the Khedive Yacht Club and Knights of Mecca.
